We’re going to talk about pole dancing first because there is some debate about how and why pole dancing came about — and therefore whether pole dancers should be taught at an academy before they are offered a position.
Pole dancers may not be trained as dancers or dancers in their current role, with or without dance training. Pole dancing can be difficult and has been difficult for many different reasons including injury, financial hardships, and the physical demands and training that goes along.
At the end of the day, it was a decision of the founder of POD pole dancing, Tonia Houser, based on the amount and quality of her dancers and her own personal philosophy. The fact that she chose people over machines in the end, however, made pole dancing seem like a perfect “job”.
As a pole dancer one of the many qualities that make one a great dancer is the ability to take risks. Being able to take risks, with little to no protection from the ground or other dancers are key to a great experience. In all honesty, I’m sure most people who don’t consider themselves to be a pole dancer consider themselves lucky to be able to have a chance at doing something that seems so dangerous, but is in fact relatively safe.
Some of the reasons some people are injured (or even die) from doing this activity are:
overzealous safety practices
overuse of pain relievers and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories in a situation where pain relief is important, (not something that’s needed on a pole dancers day)
overuse of medications, even if they are prescribed for an ailment
overuse of medical equipment, (especially pads and wheels)
and of course, the fact that many of these things could possibly be avoided, even if a doctor did prescribe anything.
Most pole dancers don’t have insurance so they are usually just paying out of pocket to pay for the equipment. This money is probably well worth it, if there ever was an excuse for taking a chance. There are also the cost of transportation and lodging, however, this also varies by region. If you do decide to do pole dancing, you can easily save money by choosing places that provide health insurance and/or car services.
How long can I be a pole dancer?
This depends on how long, what type of pole, how much experience you have, and how dedicated you are to learning all the skills a pole dancer needs to be a fantastic
